Sunday, 3 November 2013 • 00:53 • 0 comments Here's my top picks for foundations. And ya, its foundations and not foundation. I am going include more than 1 and different foundation for different skin types. I am actually narrow it down with a budget. I tried as much as possible to not over-shot $35 SGD (do your conversion by yourself) which I am within budget!! Yay me!! So let's get started.First let's with dry skin. Dry skin, it is recommended to use a more hydrating foundation in order for the foundation to not stick and amplify your dry patches. Normally, foundations that are formulated for dry skin are normally light-medium coverage, light weight and they normally gives a dewy finish to the skin.
My recommendation: Bourjois Healthy mix foundation ~$33
The foundation comes with a pump which mine is dirty please pardon that as I do use it quite regularly. It is a really light foundation and that it gives a dewy finish. It does not have any SPF so if you are planning to wear it in the day, do wear a sunscreen underneath. For me I do need to set it with a powder, but if you are dry skin, you can get away with out setting it. It is different from the healthy mix foundation as this is a little more light-weight and it have the consistency of a milk lotion/ serum skincare kind of texture. If you have extreme oily skin, this foundation is a no-no for you, it will make you into an oil-slick.
For oily skin, here's and oldies but a goodie.
Revlon colourstay line of foundations
Sorry for the blur image $30.90
This is the liquid foundation of the line. This is one of the best foundation for oily skin in the drugstore. First of all, it is a medium - full coverage. It sets really quickly without needing to powder, which means you can apply a first later, wait for a few minutes and build up a second layer for even more coverage. It have a SPF of 6 which is totally not enough, so do add a sunscreen underneath. If you want to have a more natural finish, use a wet sponge or a wet brush to apply the foundation. This foundation does dry matte and it is a little drying so if you have dry skin or even normal skin, do hydrate your skin really well before your makeup.
This is the cream version in the line. $29.90
The whipped creme foundation is a more hydrating version of the liquid one with the same functionality. This foundation, however, does not dry to a totally matte finish. It dries to a semi-matte, settle finish. It does still help to keeps to oil under control and have a really awesome staying power. However, application of this is only advisable to be done with fingers as it blends with contact of body temperature. So do take note of that. I would recommend getting the liquid foundation instead of the whipped one if you are a beginner in makeup. Oh, and it have SPF 20.
For normal skin, you are blessed with the best of both world cause you are likely to be the one that is able to use all the foundations in this post.
Bourjois 123 perfect ~$33
This is a color correcting foundation with SPF10. This is a gel foundation which is really light and it have a medium coverage. It is slightly more on the matte side, however, it does still leave you a really healthy radiant finish which is what I go for most of the time. It just look so natural, feel so light, it is really just like a second layer of skin. I really recommend this foundation to all!! It is worth the try and whether you are dry or oily skin, just do enough prep work, this foundation will work wonders for you.
Etude house any cushion precious mineral foundation $32.90
This is a very fun foundation to play with I would say. It have the consistency of something like a BB cream, light and creamy, but it have the coverage of a foundation. This have the highest amount of sunscreen, SPF50+ PA+++ which makes it really nice to wear in the day as you dun have to apply any more sunscreen. This foundation leaves the skin with a dewy finish without having it look like the skin is over glowing. It gives a more radiant look which makes this really popular among teenagers. This however, I would not recommend for more mature skin as it is slightly more of a foundation that is formulated to suit teenagers who are facing different skin issues growing up.
Hope that this post is informative and helpful, I will see you peeps in my next post:)
