Makeup tips and Top picks will be 2 new series in my blog whereby I will share with all of you what are my makeup tips, top picks or recommendation for each different kinds of makeup products. Starting first will be foundation.

Foundation is a layer of makeup that we put all over our face to cover up some flaws, imperfections and also it act as a base for any other kinds of face makeup which also help those to last longer.

Choosing the right foundation is very important yet pretty difficult too. In Singapore we are blessed that no matter where we go, we are always given tester to test the foundation out and see whether we like its texture and find the most matching shade to our skin tone. But the funny thing is that sometimes the color of the swatches that we have swatch in store might look different or overtime, the foundation looks darker on our skin. This can be due to numeral reasons. One of the most common reasons will be oxidation.

What is oxidation?
Oxidation is a chemical reaction to some color pigments and make them darker which changes our foundation shade to maybe 1 shade darker than what you bought. To counter this problem, swatch the foundation that you are testing out on your hand and and leave it there. If you want, you can hang out somewhere for a few hours, check the swatch on your hand, if it turns darker and does not match your skin tone as well, buy a color tone lighter than what you have swatch.

Another common mistake that people make is that they will match the foundation to facial skin tone which might not be the same skin tone as the rest of your body. The best place to get a skin tone match will be around your jawline where it links up your face and your neck. This way, your foundation shade will match both the tones.
